This species has been recorded from Okinawa Is., Miyako Is., Ishigaki Is. and Iriomote Is. in the Ryukyu Islands. It is mainly obtained from dead branches, but is frequently collected from the branches of Casuarina equisetifolia. All congeners are very similar from one another, but the tube of this species is thicker and almost equal in width and length. The IS2* setae on the tergite VIII are reduced. Fungus-feeder.
*The IS (intermediate setae) are short setae located between two pairs of prominent setae on the posterior margin of the tergite VIII. In this genus, there are two IS, the inner one is called IS1 and the outer one is called IS2.
